We believe in providing high-quality water to the consumers in our region.

We believe that our customers should have attentive, knowledgeable and quality service.

We believe that our projects should not only reflect our commitment to the community but be designed to meet our needs as well as the expectations of its residents.

We believe in open space preservation. For it is these green spaces that protect water, offer opportunities for recreation and fortify our connection with nature.

We rely upon a group of outstanding employees who are committed to providing the best service using the most advanced technology available. Through an entrepreneurial spirit, we seek new opportunities to serve the people and communities in our region.

With nearly a quarter of a century in business as the Regional Water Authority, we’ve worked hard toward developing principles and beliefs that make us an industry leader and unique in Connecticut. We have always believed that a bountiful supply of water is essential to the general health and prosperity of any community. This belief stems from our 150-year-old predecessor, the New Haven Water Company

Our mission is to provide an ample supply of safe, affordable water but also to advance the conservation and compatible recreational use of our land. This dual mission makes our organization unique in Connecticut. From the 55 million gallons of water we supply per day to some 400,000 consumers, to the more than 25,000 acres of land we protect, to our role as one of the larger employers in Greater New Haven, we accept our responsibilities as a leader in the community. We are committed to building a better environment in our region.

On the following pages you will read about some of the projects and individuals who exemplify that commitment. You will read about our undertaking at Lake Whitney, our largest construction project in over 15 years; discover the value of an “all-age” forest; and perhaps be tempted to cast for adventure at one of our recreation spots. And while you know that a glass of cool water comes to you with just a twist of the faucet knob, you will get to appreciate the women and men who are responsible, day in and day out, for producing that clean, safe water as well as providing you with first-class customer service.

Attention to detail is the cornerstone of any successful construction project, but what sets it apart from the rest is our attention to your needs as we plan, design, build and ultimately maintain a first-class water system. In undertaking the rebuilding of the Lake Whitney Water Treatment Plant, we worked with neighborhood residents to minimize construction impacts, reached out for ideas and used the latest techniques that will help us deliver a project on time and within budget. We broke ground for this project last March and so far, construction at our $49 million treatment plant is on schedule and we are more than 25 percent on the way to completion. With its sophisticated technology, the Lake Whitney Water Treatment Plant, when completed in 2005, will serve as a model for future projects.
