Regional Water Authority Kicks Off Advanced Metering Infrastructure Program in Cheshire and Wolcott For Immediate Release January 6, 2017

New Haven, CT, January 6, 2017 – Regional Water Authority (RWA) customers in Cheshire and Wolcott will be the first in the RWA’s water district to have the water industry’s latest metering technology installed when the RWA kicks off its new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program this month. The system will allow the RWA to accurately read customers’ water meters by securely transmitting a low-powered signal from an AMI endpoint, a small device connected to the meter, back to the RWA’s office. read more

Discolored Water Being Reported In Hamden For Immediate Release July 29, 2015

The Regional Water Authority is receiving reports of discolored water from areas in Hamden. Water in your home can become discolored when there is an increased demand for water from the public water system. The discoloration is from naturally occurring sediment in the water mains being stirred up because of the higher flow of water through the mains than usual. Reasons for increased flow can be due to a local fire, flushing or our water system to maintain water quality or due to a high demand for water on a hot day, such as today. read more

Telephone Scam Targeting Laundromats For Immediate Release July 23, 2015

NEW HAVEN, July 23, 2015 - The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) received two calls on Thursday from owners of laundromats who received calls from a person claiming to be with the water company and threatening to shut off their water service unless the customer made an immediate payment at a payment location or Wal-Mart through an express payment to “waterdept/net.stend.” These telephone scammers take advantage of the confusion generated by surprise and use pressure tactics. read more

Consumer Alert: Always Ask for an ID For Immediate Release July 17, 2015

NEW HAVEN, July 17, 2015 - The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) issued a reminder today to consumers to always ask for an employee identification card if someone comes to their door claiming to be from the water company. This reminder is a result of two incidents where a man or men posed as water company employees to attempt to gain access to homes in West Haven on Wednesday, July 15 and Friday, July 17. The men claimed that the residents had leaks and that they needed to come into the home to check the faucets. The residents did not let the men into their homes. read more

The redirection of water from one source into the Saltonstall water service area because of an electrical malfunction at the Lake Saltonstall Water Treatment Plant led to a discolored water event Tuesday, July 8th and Wednesday, July 9th. Discolored Water/Low Pressure UPDATE For Immediate Release July 9, 2014

Regional Water Authority crews and contractors were able to start up the Lake Saltonstall Water Treatment Plant yesterday evening. The plant had suffered an electrical failure and small fire in one of the pumps that takes water from Lake Saltonstall and brings it into the treatment plant. Water was diverted from other sources in order to supply water for drinking, hygiene and fire-fighting to more than 25,000 people. read more

Representatives of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) and SolarCity gathered to celebrate the completion of a large one-megawatt solar array at an RWA facility in Hamden on Friday, April 25, 2014. The ground-mounted solar system includes more than 4,000 solar panels—making it one of the largest in the state.
