Welcome to Our Recreation Program

The Regional Water Authority maintains almost 27,000 acres of land in south central Connecticut to protect our supply of quality drinking water. We’ve developed recreation areas on parts of this land where you can hike, bike, fish and more.

You can hike, jog, cross-country ski, take a nature walk, or just relax and enjoy nature’s scenic beauty. All it takes is a Regional Water Authority Trail Permit. Buying a Trail Permit is like contributing to a regional conservation organization. It's your way to help insure that future generations will have these same natural resources to enjoy. Recreation PhotoPhotography

Our recreation areas are rich with opportunities for both amateur and professional phtographers. Each year we conduct a photo contest for our recreation permit holders. Permit holders are invited to submit up to five photographs in one of five categories: Wildlife, Plants, Water Scenes, General Scenes, and People Recreating. The only stipulation is that the photographs must be taken at any of our Regional Water Authority recreation areas. Winners are posted on the website. Learn more.
