RWA-Trained Volunteers Help Assess Health of Mill River in Cheshire For Immediate Release August 31, 2018

Outfitted with waders and clipboards, brothers Nick and Ben Motmans climbed down the bank of the Mill River near Mount Sanford Road Monday to study a section of the waterway. Nick Motmans, 17, is a student at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford and member of the Cheshire Land Trust board. He was one of the 20 volunteers trained by a water quality specialist with the Regional Water Authority several weeks ago. The volunteers are helping assess the health of the Mill River. read more

RWA Partners with Local Preservationist to Rebuild Historic Home in Orange For Immediate Release May 3, 2018

The RWA sold a home in Orange, built in the late 1800s or early 1900s, to Wess Corjuc, a local preservationist, with the condition that the historic home be preserved as much as possible. Structural issues led to the home needing to be deconstructed, but it is in the process of being rebuilt, using some of the original home's materials, so that the exterior looks exactly as it did when inhabited by the Alling Family in the 19th century. read more

Discolored Water Being Reported In Hamden For Immediate Release July 29, 2015

The Regional Water Authority is receiving reports of discolored water from areas in Hamden. Water in your home can become discolored when there is an increased demand for water from the public water system. The discoloration is from naturally occurring sediment in the water mains being stirred up because of the higher flow of water through the mains than usual. Reasons for increased flow can be due to a local fire, flushing or our water system to maintain water quality or due to a high demand for water on a hot day, such as today. read more

Telephone Scam Targeting Laundromats For Immediate Release July 23, 2015

NEW HAVEN, July 23, 2015 - The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) received two calls on Thursday from owners of laundromats who received calls from a person claiming to be with the water company and threatening to shut off their water service unless the customer made an immediate payment at a payment location or Wal-Mart through an express payment to “waterdept/net.stend.” These telephone scammers take advantage of the confusion generated by surprise and use pressure tactics. read more

Consumer Alert: Always Ask for an ID For Immediate Release July 17, 2015

NEW HAVEN, July 17, 2015 - The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) issued a reminder today to consumers to always ask for an employee identification card if someone comes to their door claiming to be from the water company. This reminder is a result of two incidents where a man or men posed as water company employees to attempt to gain access to homes in West Haven on Wednesday, July 15 and Friday, July 17. The men claimed that the residents had leaks and that they needed to come into the home to check the faucets. The residents did not let the men into their homes. read more

Regional Water Authority crews and contractors were able to start up the Lake Saltonstall Water Treatment Plant yesterday evening. The plant had suffered an electrical failure and small fire in one of the pumps that takes water from Lake Saltonstall and brings it into the treatment plant. Water was diverted from other sources in order to supply water for drinking, hygiene and fire-fighting to more than 25,000 people. read more
