New Haven, CT, January 12, 2018 – The Regional Water Authority (RWA) is asking Greater New Haven area residents to be suspicious if they receive a phone call asking for money to change their water meter.
As part of the RWA’s multi-year Advanced Metering Infrastructure program that is deploying the water industry’s latest metering technology, the meter upgrade is free to our customers. RWA and our contractor – Contract Callers, Inc. (CCI) – are NOT making these calls. If residents receive such a call, they should hang up and call the RWA at 203-562-4020 and their local police department.
RWA is also asking area residents to be suspicious if someone comes to their door claiming to be from the RWA or CCI and wanting to enter their home. Always ask for identification from anyone who comes to your door and maintain a “No Identification – No Entry” policy.
RWA personnel carry an employee photo identification card and wear clothing and/or a vest with the RWA logo. All CCI installers wear blue uniforms with a CCI logo and carry two photo IDs: an RWA contractor badge and a CCI badge. CCI vehicles are white and have CCI and RWA logos.
RWA and CCI are currently upgrading meters in East Haven, North Branford, Branford, North Haven and New Haven. Customers can call the RWA at 203-562-4020 to verify that installers are working in their neighborhood. All installation activities are also registered with local police departments.
