HazWaste Central

Household hazardous waste comes from everyday products used in the home, garage, yard or garden. HazWaste Central helps area residents in member towns protect water quality by safely disposing of these household wastes. Located at our headquarters at 90 Sargent Drive in New Haven, HazWaste Central is open from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays only, through October 30, 2021.

In addition to regular collections, we are holding satellite collections in several of our member communities.

Satellite collection days are listed below:

Milford - September 18, Milford Public Works Yard

Meriden - September 25, Meriden Transfer Station

Madison - October 2, Madison Public Works Yard

Not all satellite collections will accept antifreeze, asbestos, auto batteries, camp stove propane cylinders, gas grill propane tanks or waste oil.

HazWaste Central is free to residents of Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, East Haven, Fairfield, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Meriden, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Wallingford, West Haven and Woodbridge.

A visit to HazWaste Central is quick and easy. Participants never have to leave their cars, and the waste is off-loaded by professionals. Co-sponsored by the RWA and the South Central Regional Council of Governments, some of the household wastes that can be dropped off include aerosol cleaners and sprays, antifreeze, oil-based paint and pool chemicals. Click here for a complete list.

Small businesses, those with Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator  (CESQG) status, can participate in the HazWaste Central Program BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. To learn more, download the Small Business CESQG Information Packet and the appropriate form: CESQG Small Business Form  or CESQG Municipal Form.
