City of Derby Sells East Derby Water Works to Aquarion Water Company

Oct 16, 2014

Aquarion Water Company purchased the East Derby Water Works from the City of Derby effective October 16, 2014.  The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) has operated the system on behalf of the City since 2008 when the RWA acquired Birmingham Utilities and the City contract to provide water service to East Derby Water customers.

Approximately 480 customers in Derby who were served by the Regional Water Authority will now be provided water by the Aquarion Water Company.

A map of the area that makes up the East Derby Water Works and the addresses who are within the East Derby Water Works system can be found at www.rwater.com/customer-care/projects-in-your-neighborhood/. For specific addresses, please refer to the list of addresses following the map.  This map is provided to give you a visual of where the area is on Route 34 (Derby Avenue and New Haven Avenue) in relation to the Merritt Parkway and Route 8. If your address is not on the list, your water service will continue to come from the Regional Water Authority.

If you have any questions about this change, please call the Authority’s customer call center at 203-562-4020. The call center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

It has been our pleasure to serve all customers in Derby, and we look forward to continuing to serve those who remain part of the Regional Water Authority’s district. We appreciate the confidence you have expressed in our products and services.
