RWA Offers Financial Assistance To Customers In Need

Feb 18, 2020

The Regional Water Authority (RWA) is proud to provide reliable, high-quality tap water to its customers for less than a penny per gallon. However, some families need additional assistance to make ends meet. To help households in need pay their water bills, the RWA offers grants of up to $175 towards their water bills through its Residential Water Assistance Program.

RWA customers living at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Income Level are eligible for the Residential Water Assistance Program. Income guidelines depend on the size of the household being evaluated for the program. For example, a family of four could qualify for the program if their annual income is $45,850 or less. Qualifying applicants can receive up to $175 toward their water bills.

“We started our Residential Water Assistance Program because we believe every family should have access to reliable, high-quality tap water, regardless of income level or financial standing,” said RWA President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Bingaman. “The RWA is proud to be a dedicated community partner that goes to great lengths to ensure our water remains affordable without sacrificing the high quality our customers expect and deserve. The Residential Water Assistance program provides an extra helping hand to our neighbors facing financial hardships. This assistance helps those members of our community maintain their water service and their home budget, so that they can get back on their feet faster.”

“For over three years, Dollar Energy Fund has been proud to support the RWA’s efforts to serve families who find themselves in a temporary financial situation and need help making ends meet,” said Chad Quinn, Chief Executive Officer of Dollar Energy Fund. “The RWA’s Residential Water Assistance Program has become a useful resource for households across Greater New Haven, enabling them to maintain water service when blindsided by an unexpected expense.”

Anyone interested in applying for the Residential Water Assistance Program should contact Dollar Energy, RWA’s partner on this initiative, toll-free at 1-888-282-6816. Callers will be connected with Dollar Energy’s Program Coordinator who will provide free, confidential assistance. Customers can also contact the RWA for information at 203-562-4020.
