Kevin J. Curseaden of Milford has been elected to the Regional Water Authority, the five-member governing board of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority, the non-profit organization that provides water to about 430,000 people in the greater New Haven region. Curseaden began his term on March 1, 2015.
The 1-megawatt solar system at the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority’s (SCCRWA) North Sleeping Giant water treatment facility in Hamden, Connecticut, is now live and producing most of the energy needed to power the facility.
The Representative Policy Board of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority is seeking to fill an opening on the five-member governing board of the Authority. This is a part-time salaried position, which requires approximately 200 or more hours per year, including during business hours.
Aquarion Water Company purchased the East Derby Water Works from the City of Derby effective October 16, 2014. The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) has operated the system on behalf of the City since 2008 when the RWA acquired Birmingham Utilities and the City contract to provide water service to East Derby Water customers.
New Haven, CT. September 25, 2014 – The South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) has taken the first steps to upgrade its meter reading system. This will enable customer water meters to be read through a radio network that will eventually allow the RWA to use the data collected to issue bills monthly, rather than at the current three-month intervals. This should make it easier for customers to budget for their water bill.
The Representative Policy Board of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water District will hold a public hearing to consider the application (#14-04) of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (the “Authority”) for Approval of a Project to Complete Improvements at the Lake Saltonstall Intake and Raw Water Pump Station in East Haven, Connecticut (“the Application”), at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority office, located at 90 Sargent Drive in New Haven, Connecticut.
The Representative Policy Board (“RPB”) of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water District (“the District”) will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 , at the offices of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (“the Authority”), 90 Sargent Drive, New Haven, Connecticut, to consider the application of the Authority to establish rates, other charges, and rate schedules for water and related services.

Opie’s World: Tap Into Nature, a feature of the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority’s Recreation program, helps children and adults reconnect with the natural world and each other. On Wednesday, August 20, from noon until 4:00 p.m., a team of Authority employees will help visitors young and old with fishing, nature crafts and hands-on activities such as breaking open rocks to find the treasures inside and learning how clouds help predict weather at this free program. This family event will take place at the Maltby Lakes Recreation Area on the westbound side of Route 34 at the West Haven/Orange town line.
